      [Chorus]
G (slide F# to G)
I'm Southbound
G C7 G
Good old road don't you get me down
G A7 D
Got onboard a wing and a prayer passing through this town
G B7
Get to where I'm going by the break of day
C G
Not quite certain can't really say
G B7 C D
Ain't hard to see the road's one way and it's southbound

(Stress roots of chords for that wonderful walkup....G, B, C, C#, D)

[Verse]
G
Yes, Houston up to Memphis

Good Lord, what a long hard ride

Chicago to St Louis
             A7 D
now you know that is more my style
G B7
Been on the road for some time
        C7 G
Got the Double Vision, Gotta Troubled Mind
G B7 C D
Won't be long before you'll find me southbound

(Again, Stress roots of chords for that wonderful walkup....G, B, C, C#, D)

I said break back and a trainwreck
Like a jam in the left hand lane
Yes, it's holding up my production
I'll hit up my southbound train
Been on the track for some time
Got the Double Vision, Gotta Troubled Mind
Won't be long before you'll find me southbound

I said no luck Atlanta
I said last chance Tennessee
I said settle down I'm southern bound
It's home sweet home to me
Yes, I've seen the light and I do believe
When I get down there I won't wanna leave
Won't be long before you find me southbound

After each verse, the chorus starts again.
Solos are played with the same chord progression as the chorus.

Sorry if the lyrics are blank or incorrect. they are hard to determine from the version
on Mountain Tracks Vol. 5.

I've found that playing G as a bar chord sounds better than an open G and makes that
awesome soulful slide at the end of "southbound" easier to play, although the slide actually
occurs on Jeff Austin's Mandolin.

Enjoy and feel free to fill in lyrics/edit this one.
