The existing versions (based on G C) are pretty ok, but they don't reflect correctly the sound of U2.
The standard bass line in concerts is G Am C; so I suggest a G5 A5 C5 line for the verse
(but form the chord A5 from an Am, so it should sound right even if you pluck an additional chord
and play Am instead of A5).
Also, the chorus seems to be a play of G Gadd9 G (it probably simulates G Am G)
and then a play on C Cmaj7 Cadd9 C.
