I cobbled this song together based on the album, and watching a bunch of youtube vids.
The truth is that Kyle Morton messes around a lot with different chord positions.
This is sort of a simplified version that I came to. The band has 7000 members at last count,
so it's sort of hard to get that full feeling with a single guitar. That was my goal though.
Tried my best to match the chords with the rhythm, but you just need to listen to the song a lot.

Intro: G C B4 G C Em C X2

G C/G
I was born in September
                    B4 G
And like everything else, I can't remember
                       C Em C C
I replaced it with scenes from a film that I will never know

G C/G
And I blinked, it was over
                  B4 G
I was thinking my life would get slower
                            C/G Em
That I would sort this shit out when I'm sober

C C G
It gets better now that you're older

                         C/G
I read the scares on the front page
                      B4 G
It says we're waiting around for an ice age
                           C Em
It says our comforts, they come with a price tag
C C G
They cured the cancer but discovered a new plague

They say just think of the children
And imagine the world that we've willed them
Is populated with weirdos to kill them
And break their hearts

                     G
And everybody knows
              C/G
That this the end
                B4 G
It's now fashionable
                          C/G B4
Dinner party conversation

D
Now I'm as old as you were when you had me
C G
Should I be afraid? Should I start a family?
D
Raise them in the wild 'cause up against the city
   C
My love is such a small thing

G C Em

G C/G B4 G C B4 C C

G C/G
When you're young, you're hot
              B4 G
You have your whole life before you. Everyone will adore
                                       C/G Em
You'll grow up, you'll be an astronaut
   C C
Or anything you want

G C/G
What goes up, goes up in flames
             B4 G
And now your choices surround you, Indecision confounds you
                                   C Em
And you're pacing around the place
          C C
Shows you everything you're not

G C/G
And then the brief little romance
                B4 G
You committed a soul without its consent
                    C/G Em
To live a life as a form without its content
                         G C/G
Because young people get bored everyday
                                    G C/G B4
Yeah young people, young people get bored

D
Never went to church, thought a song was going to save me
C G
So I wrote a hymn on the guitar that you gave me
D
Signal wood to smoke I built a fire look for smoke
          C
Know that hope is just a small thing

G
I just called to tell you
C
I just called to say
Em G
Learn all your mistakes
C/G A/C#
You were my inspiration

G
And it wasn't all we hoped for
C
But we shake it off and we say
Em G
Here's your yellow ribbon
C A/C# G
I am your consolation

              C
I was born in September And if I died today
Em G
Just know I don't regret you
C/G A/C#
Some things I can't explain

Em
It's a slow descent
C/G A
It's a loveless place
      C/G G
Every goddamn day

                 C
And Now you know
                       Em
No matter where you go
                        C A
Know that I will follow
                   G
That I will follow
                   C
You not only home
                                A
It's not much but it's all that i know
Em C G
      Here's how it goes

Outro:

I just called to tell you
I just called to say
Learn all your mistakes
Passed down through generations
