"Getting There"written by Terri Clark andPerformed by Terri ClarkFrom the album "Fearless"Submitted and Transcribed by AshleeBruch(countrygirl15bruch@yahoo.com)I figured this out from an acoustic set Terri Clark did onGAC spotlite (I believe that's the name of the show). Sheplayed it capoed on the 4th fret. But if you want to playjust like the CD version of it, it should be capoed on the3rd fret.I'm not sure on the names of some of the chords so I'vewritten the fingerings as well. I'm not an expert on thenames of chords, or technical guitar terms, so bear withme. :)--------------------------------The thing about these chords is they have a sort ofbluesish riff in them where you add a base note after acouple of strums and then release it. The strum patternfor the verses is: down, down, +down, down - down, down,+down. "+down" is where you add the extra base note. Forexample, with D you would add on 4th string 4th fret forthe "+down" strums. So when I type out the EADGBE chordform I'll put the "+down" chord form in parenthesis rightalong side the original form. There are a couple chords I gave my own lettering of "M"and "M2", that means "Mystery Chord" and "Mystery Chord 2".lolChord Forms:EADGBED=xxx232 (xx4232)E=x22100 (x42100)G=300033 (300233)A=xx2220 (xx4220)M=xx4432Em=x22000open=000000G=320033C=x32010M2=xx0231C1=x03210C2=320010-------------strum patterns for each chord:verses= d,d,+d,d - d,d,+d,dverse to chorus bridge= mystery chord for 8 strums down, then one strum for Em, and open strum, then d,d,u,u,d,uchorus= d,dInstrumental= D/ d,d,+d - d,d,+d,dMyst./ d,u,d,d,u,d,d,uE/ d,u,d,u,u,dG/ d,u,d,u,u,d-------------------capoed 3rd fret along with the album, or 4th fret acousticversionGETTING THERE(written by Terri Clark and Gary Burr)D EWell the sun sets in the westG Abut as fast as you go how would you knowD EYou're a busy boy I guessG AWho just wants the gold at the end of the roadM open EmThink of all you missGPassing through like thisC M2 C1 C2You want an answer as soon as you say a prayerC M2 C1 C2You wanna land the moment you're in the airC M2 C1 C2Baby the livin' is all in the gettin' thereD E G AD Edon't be first in every lineG ANow and then you can be at the endD E'cause there's only so much timeG Aand you can't get back every minute you spendM open EYou're not even sureGof what you're runnin' for(chorus)(instrumental) D, M, E, G, D, M, C, GM open EThink of all you missGPassing through like this(chorus)(play verse chords all the way out)The livin' is all in the gettin' thereGettin' there-----------------------------------The final chorus is picked for half and then C is pulsed bypressing and unpressing the fingering.Any questions?
