Ray Lamontagne - Hey Me Hey Mama
This tab adds the C7 transition to the F that can be heard on every video on youtube but is missing from
other tabs I've referenced while learning this song myself. Hope you all enjoy it, check out this video if
want to hear the magic way that Ray does it.

t = thumb (watch Ray do it)

Each line of the verse is 2 measures of 4/4 for each line of the phrase, strummed with some swing to it.

You can play around with switching between F to F7 and G to G7 during the verses. Also, work in
some 4th, 5th and 6th string hammer-on's to magnify the folky blues of the prevailing 7th chord
nature of this song.

For example (and don't forget to add some swing to your strumming here):
m = muted strum (use right hand to subtly mute the strings just to the left of the
bridge on the up-strokes, or just play the up-stroke really lightly)
  d = down strum
  u = up strum

Verse I
F
Papa's in the kitchen,
G
Mama's in the field

There's a murder in the henhouse

Mud flung high upon the wheels

Ol' rooster in the dooryard

Through the ripening corn

Chorus
F G
Hey Me, Hey Mama
          C F C

Just this side of dangerous

That look in your eye

Verse IV
F
I always knew that you were crazy
       G
Always knew you could be cruel

In the world for you

Chorus

Hey Me, Hey Mama

Where you been, where you, been for so long?

F
You left me standin' in the corner
        G
With my head so hangin' down
             C
Punch-drunk, busted up and reelin'
       C7 F
Like a rodeo clown

Verse VI
    F
You always seem to hit me
       G
Like a lightnin' from above

I guess I just wasn't ready for

Such a heavy-handed love.
