To play along with the album version, the song is almost all in A but you put your
index finger on the 6th string, 3rd fret to get that low sound while you are playing the A
It might take a little practice to incorporate that into your rhythm - there is a G played
behind the lead acoustic at the end of every verse line
A G A G - 8 times
A G
Well I ain't never been to Folsom
A G
But I've damn sure done my time
A G
Tryin' to please a Woman
C D A
Tryin' to walk the Line
A G
When she washed her hands of our love
A G
I went right straight down the drain
A G
Straight down the tubes with the booze and blues
C D A
Where the boozin' losers hang
A
Now I'm Lowdown and Lonesome, but I feel right at home
A C D A
Cuz I done grown accustomed, to sinkin' like a stone
A
Since I hit rock bottom, I've been high as I can be
A C C/B C/Bb A
Ever since that woman put that Lowdown and Lonesome on me
Here on this Whiskey river
Ain't no paddle, ain't no boat
and this 90 I'm clinging to
Been keepin' me afloat
Well they say I use to give a damn
But that was long ago
Back before she took our love
And blew it full of holes
Chorus:
Left me Lowdown and Lonesome, but I feel right at home
Cuz I done grown accustomed, to sinkin' like a stone
Since I hit rock bottom, I've been high as I can be
Ever since that woman, put that Lowdown and Lonesome on me
A
Bartender keeps her picture on the wall here just in case
A C D
I ever can't remember how I wound up in this place
Chorus
