Tabbed by: C. Hall
Tuning: Std. E
Yes, I know the chords for the song are pretty established, in waaaaay too many versions already.
However, to get the true feel, to me, some of the bass needs to be merged in. So, this is my
interpretation of a hybrid (bass and guitar) into one tab that sounds like the right way to play
this song (with only 1 guitar). I think people attacking just the chords get 4 stars, because the
key to this song is getting the connecting/walking notes between the chords right too.
Chords:
Dm = x-5-7-7-6-5
F = 1-3-3-2-1-1
A# = 6-8-8-7-6-6
C = 8-10-10-9-8-8
B = 7-9-9-8-7-7
C# = 9-11-11-10-9-9
A = 5-7-7-6-5-5
C* = x-3-5-5-5-3
C#* = x-4-6-6-6-4
F* = x-8-10-10-10-8
Since the main premise for this tab is to provide details on the missing bass notes (in other
versions), I'll break down the "bass" first, then morph in the guitar with lyrics later. The
chords are listed above the tabs, so it shouldn't be hard to figure out if that is what you're
after. Transition/flare chords listed in parens () can be ignored (just keep playing preceeding
chord), double timed, strummed, or picked (as shown) - its up to you.

Alright, the song completely changes here, and shouldn't really be confused with anything
happening above. Sounds like the guitars, key and tempo all change, which makes it really hard to
figure out precisely what is going on - though it is very simple portion in general. Goes
something to the effect of the following...
Chords: F#, B, C#, and A (all barres - slide through A to give it some pep)
Opens with...
F#
e:|-------------------------|-------------------------| B:|-------------------------|-------------------------| G:|-------------------------|-------------------------| D:|-4--4--x--4--4--4--x--4--|-4--4--x--4--4--4--x--4--| A:|-4--4--x--4--4--4--x--4--|-4--4--x--4--4--4--x--4--| E:|-2--2--x--2--2--2--x--2--|-2--2--x--2--2--2--x--2--| (x2)

Then words are song over this progression. Played all the way through 4 times. Example lyrics
with 2nd pass (the only one I can understand what he's saying).

You have to monkey around with that. For the second part (the "Please, Please" stuff) you can
stay on E barres and mix in A chords between F# and B chords. Just trying to demonstrate the
general feeling and to introduce variance. Some of these chords may also be minors. That's why I
just suggest 3-note chords, thus avoiding such subtleties. I don't think anyone has done a
particularly great job on the outro, but this one is at least sounds cooler to play.
Good luck! Enjoy, I hope this version is well recieved. You definitely can't ding me for lack of
effort! Please commment as I'd like it to a) make sense and b) represent this classic well.
