VERSE 1:
D (G5)
Upon this street where time has died,
D (G5)
The golden treat you never tried.
D (G5)
In times of old, in days gone by,
D (G5)
If I could catch your dancing eye.

CHORUS 1:
G F
It was on the way,
D# D
On the road to dreams, yeah.
E D# D
Now my heart's drowned in no love streams, yeah.

VERSE 2:
D (G5)
The street is cold, its trees are gone,
D (G5)
The story's told the dark has won.
D (G5)
Once we set sail to catch a star,
D (G5)
We had to fail, it was too far.

CHORUS 2:
G F
It was on the way,
D# D
On the road to dreams, yeah.
E D# D
Now my heart's drowned in no love streams, yeah.

VERSE 3:
D (G5)
I felt the wind shout like a drum,
D (G5)
You said, "My friend, love's end has come.”,
D (G5)
It couldn't last, had to stop,
D (G5)
You drained it all to the last drop.

The winter life is coming back.

There's no retreat from time that's died.

NOTES:
1. A small tribute to Jack Bruce on the first anniversary of his passing
on October 25, 2014, Suffolk, UK to that big recording studio in the sky.
2. As this is in ‘Open D’, my advice is to experiment as much as possible
with the variants of the chords to create interesting harmonies.
3. This my interpretation of the original studio accompaniment and I trust that it does
the acoustic chords, justice. It is quite different to the standard tuning of
Cream’s 'Albert Hall' performance in 2005.
